// COVID-19

ITDRC's COVID-19 response began in January 2020 when we were tasked by the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services to provide wireless Internet connectivity for a quarantine shelter in advance of the first repatriation flight from China. Shortly after, we were again tasked to provide computers and tablets to citizens returning from an international cruise while they were medically quarantined in Oakland, CA.

As schools, libraries, and other anchor institutions began to close for safety due to the pandemic, the digital-divide was fully exposed.

Thanks to the generosity of the greater Tech community, ITDRC established our projectConnect initiative to install free parking lot WiFi zones and Homework Hotspots to enable students and families in rural and underserved communities to connect to the Internet for distance learning.

In addition to our ongoing disaster response and relief operations, ITDRC is also supporting a number of COVID response, quarantine, and medical testing sites throughout the United States.
